We also invite you to participate in a research study. The purpose of the study is to learn about who is interested in making concession stand changes and whether the how-to-guide helps with this process. We hope that you will be willing to both use the guide and participate in this study. We anticipate that about 120 people will take part in this study at the University of Iowa.

If you agree to participate, we would like you to complete a 5 minute initial survey. These questions will ask about why you are interested in the guide and the type of concessions you wish to change. We will ask if you are willing to complete a second survey in 3 months, and we will email you a link to that survey later (if you are willing to provide this additional information). You will have the option of keeping your survey anonymous and providing only an email that will not be connect in any way to your answers. The computer will then send you an automated email request to do a follow up survey in 3 months. If you prefer to do the survey by phone you can provide your contact information and we will contact you in 3 months to do the survey by phone. The survey asks about how the concession stand changes are going and what changes were made.

You are free to answer or skip any questions on the initial survey or decline to participate in the follow-up survey.

We will keep the information you provide confidential, however federal regulatory agencies and the University of Iowa Institutional Review Board (a committee that reviews and approves research studies) may inspect and copy records pertaining to this research. All answers to your surveys will be coded with only an ID number (not your name) and will be stored separately from your contact information. If we write a report about this study we will do so in such a way that you cannot be identified.

There are no known risks from being in this study, and you will not benefit personally. However we hope that others may benefit in the future from what we learn as a result of this study.

You will not have any costs for being in this research study.

You will not be paid for being in this research study.

Taking part in this research study is completely voluntary. If you decide not to be in this study, or if you stop participating at any time, you won’t be penalized or lose any benefits or which you otherwise qualify.
